Solid hardwood belongs above grade; in basements the slab and humidity call for LVP or tile. In most cases yes — century-old oak usually has plenty of wear layer left. We sand, repair damaged boards, and finish with three coats for durability.
Luxury vinyl plank or tile. Both handle slab moisture and humidity; solid hardwood below grade will cup and gap.
